Distribution automation company Octopus Deploy has announced its first acquisition, buying out the Sydney-based software container company for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase will help simplify the software distribution process for developers who use “containers”—a type of software used to package code, system tools, libraries, and customizations—to deploy cloud applications more quickly.

It will also help Octopus customers such as Disney, NASA and Commonwealth Bank achieve their storage compliance goals and minimize storage costs for their cloud applications.

Paul Stowell said that Dist’s technology and expertise would be central to its platform as it continues to grow its public and on-premises cloud capabilities.
